SEEING for SPEAKING oder Wie Sprache unser Denken formt
03 - 05 march 2008, IWH - University of Heidelberg
As a result of the 'Klaus-Georg and Sigrid Hengstberger Award for Young Scientists at the University of Heidelberg', we will be holding a three day symposium devoted to the relationship between language specific structures, cognitive processes, and principles of language processing in native speakers and advanced second language learners. The symposium is divided into five areas that focus on different aspects of the language thought debate:
Language & Thought
Language & Concepts
Language processing & Attention
Technical realization & Methodology
Future prospects
Participants will explore the theoretical and methodological issues that arise when investigating any of these areas. Special attention will be paid to the use of the eye-tracking method in the context of psycholinguistic research.
