Research

Our research is closely linked to teaching. Regular colloquia and conferences ensure that the institute's main areas of research are internationally networked. Numerous doctoral students and young scientists are involved in the projects, thus pursuing the further development of research topics at the institute.

The core of linguistic research lies in the fields of cognitive language typology, comparative psycholinguistics, and second language acquisition. The research is interdisciplinary in nature, with joint research initiatives involving computer linguists, psychologists, physicists, art historians, and medical professionals.

In literary studies, research projects focus on fields relevant to intercultural and comparative studies, as well as social history, media history, and cultural studies.
